New Bill of Rights for Pets Introduced

Do you feel that dogs and cats should have a right to freedom from abuse and neglect? What about healthcare, exercise and nutritious food? If so, you might support the new Dog and Cat Bill of Rights being introduced in California. Animal rights advocates think the bill, which would implement fines to animal rescue and other animal organizations for not posting it in public spaces, would be helpful in protecting pets from abuse and neglect.

Updates on Season 4 of Stranger Things

While season four of Stranger Things will not be the final season--that will now be season five--it will be split up into two parts due to its massive size. We also have dates for these two volumes: Volume 1 will air on May 27, while volume 2 will be on July 1, just in time for summer. It looks like there will be a total of nine episodes, so we will see a few in May and another few in July. Who thinks the May volume will feature a gripping hangover?

As I type this, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" just came on. I think we're in for a BIG cliffhanger, folks.

Update From The Tiny Salad Frog

Remember the frog that a man found in his salad a few weeks ago? Named "Tony," the tiny tree frog was still and cold, and Simon Curtis, the man who found him, posted about it on Twitter, seeking advice about how to help the little guy. He ended up with thousands of followers and well-wishers giving advice, so he kept the frog in a hermit crab home, feeding him worms until the cold temperatures cleared and it was safe for the frog to go back outside.

Life Expectancies Among Animals--Including Humans

When it comes to an animal's lifespan, we all vary so widely, yet it's really easy to forget that there are lots of creatures who outlive humans by many, many years. Yet the fact that humans have pretty much doubled their lifespan throughout our evolution makes you wonder which other species have, or might, do the same. This visual is humbling when it comes to just how many--and what kinds of--species actually outlive humans.

Iced Coffee at Home: Your Best Secrets

Why is it that when we make iced coffee at home, it's just not as good as the coffee our favorite barista brews up? Research shows that it comes down to some simple yet varied issues, from freshly-ground beans to fresh, filtered water. Those of us who just brew coffee and let it get cold may get scoffed at; a good iced coffee is usually much stronger than that, which also accounts for the difference in taste.

Game Store Meetups

Next week we have a meetup at a gaming store, and I must admit that I'm pretty nervous. My family has been limiting ourselves to only hanging out with folks who are boosted indoors, doing only outdoor things when it's possible and masking up most of the time either way. This store does require masks, which is great, but as someone who is in so many risk groups, I've been feeling like a bigger burden on my family and more depressed than usual.

Great Plants for Transplanting

This is the time of year when many growers like to start plants indoors. It's pretty simple and cheap to do, especially if you have leftover seeds from last year. One bag of soil is also usually enough if you get the big bags and only want to start a few trays of seeds indoors, too. But if you're planning on growing sprouts to transplant into a larger, outdoor garden, how do you now which ones will tolerate the transplant best?

New Bird Fossils Discovered in China

During the last 20 years, paleontologists have been unearthing dozens of different fossils from ancient birds that coexisted with other dinosaurs in China. The site, which is not far from the Great Wall, is a treasure trove of fossils that date back to 20 million years ago. At least two of these species were brand new. Scientists have had a difficult time identifying them due to their brokenness or incompleteness.

The Worst And Best Characters

Every character on Family Guy has has some pretty terrible moments. That's the nature of the show, and it wouldn't be funny if characters didn't have flaws or get into shenanigans every once in a while. There are also way too many characters to analyze every single person on the show. That said, most fans could probably rank their top 25 characters.

Sweet Corn At Samburna Indian Restaurant

When someone gets a craving for Indian cuisine in Seattle, Samburna Indian Restaurant is one of the best places to go. Samburna goes beyond the usual findings and offers some nuanced, delightful options that really play with your tastebuds. The aforementioned sweet corn soup, for example, can be ordered with or without chicken, and it's an absolute silky treat.

Favorite Junk Turned Into Art Crafts

Turning junk into works of art is nothing new. People have done this since junk existed, and now it's become a whole hobby. Folks like to shop for pieces that inspire them at garage sales or the thrift store, take them home and turn them into something completely different. There are so many ways to do this, from simply adding paint or texture, or changing the shape into something completely new with the addition of clay, wood and other mediums.

Weird Buys This Week

Every week, it's fun to search for the oddest things for sale on the Internet. There have been some really strange and freaky things that people sell, and many people don't even bat an eye over the sale of (cleaned and sanitized) roadkill bones for sale anymore. Everyone has to make a living, after all.
