Pumpkin Pie in All the Things

Pumpkin pie is one of my favorite flavors in the world. If I could add it to everything, I probably would. Pumpkin pie flavor is slightly different than pumpkin spice. It offers a bit more sweetness, which is everything! It means the difference between a bold latte and a sweet dessert, and we're finding pumpkin pie flavor in just about everything lately, which I love!

There are pumpkin pie pop tarts, booze and granola. There are even pumpkin pie flavored Kit Kats now, which sound incredible! I love the idea of pumpkin pie on popcorn, which I'm also seeing everywhere.

Cotton Candy Grapes Season

Last week I received a notice that cotton candy grapes are back in season, which left my mouth absolutely watering. I cannot wait to get my hands on some of these! We bought some for an event that really doesn't seem very long ago, and I managed to pilfer a single grape before putting them on the table to share. I'd love to get some just for me--the rest of my family doesn't like them much--but they are SO big. I need to find a place that sells smaller packages.

Protection Against Omicron

Many of us remain worried about Covid-19 and its variants as the case and death numbers climb in our areas. My county has never taken mask mandates seriously even though we've been in the red most of this time (we've also been gerry-mandered into a red state, so I suppose it seems fitting), so it's not surprising where I live. It's still exhausting, though, and as much as those of us with boosters feel a bit better, we are left wondering how well these boosters will handle variant strains.

Some Frogs Can Adapt to Climate Change

Every week, most of us here at Frog Source are seriously worried about the status of frogs, especially when it comes to climate change. We are scanning the news, looking for signs that scientists are able to help different species survive. Sometimes we do see some positive developments and today there's a story circulating that is more of a mixed bag that still gives us some hope.

U.S. Olympic Boycott

Kids in cages, capitol punishment, cruel immigration practices, mass shootings on the daily with "thoughts and prayers" as our response, condemning uterus owners to death, allowing conversion therapy... We really could make a Billy Joel song out of all of the human rights offenses the United States allows to happen on a daily basis. Yet we're such a bastion of freedom and liberty that we're going to... boycott the Olympics.

Nuclear Reactors 975 - Naarea Designing Molten Salt eXtra Small Modular Reactor

New French micro-reactor developer Naarea is working on designs for an ultra-compact small modular reactor they call the eXtra Small Modular Reactor (XSMR). Dassault Systèmes is going to supply Naarea with a cloud-based platform on which to virtually design the 1-to-40-megawatt molten salt reactor. Naarea says that the first units of XSMR will be produced by 2030.
