Supporting Mental Health

Many experts agree that we're facing a mental health crisis. Between overuse of technology, social media, the political climate (and alarming actual climate change) and a global pandemic, it would be weird if people weren't feeling some anxiety. This means we need to really focus on our mental health more than ever.

New Funko Pops

While I don't have an extensive Funko Pop collection, I have several in my house and am known to get excited about certain ones. There are two X-Men Phoenix and two Winnie (from Hocus Pocus) pops in my house, for example. So it's always fun to see what's new and what's coming, especially when it comes to Halloween!

Mocha Shake Recipes

Mochas are great iced or hot, but have you ever had a mocha shake? Thicker than a Frappucino, a mocha shake is a delicious treat that's perfect for cooling off, enjoying some chocolate flavor and still getting that caffeine kick, depending on how you make it. Yes, you can make one without caffeine if you like!

Pumpkin Shake Recipes

Pumpkin spice season is officially upon us whether we like it or not. Some of us love PSL but would like the season to start in the actual fall, while some of us really crave it all year. Either way, there are lots of ways to make it at home, as well as other yummy pumpkin flavors.

Twinkie Shakes

The moment you realize that you can create a shake or smoothie out of just about anything is the moment that you fully become an adult. Booze, Halloween candy, Ovaltine, fruit, and anything you want in the world? Yep. That's the epitome of adulthood. And once you realize you can toss in brownies, cookies and cakes, well... all you can do is pace yourself, friends.

New Poetry Contests

Poetry contests are a great way to earn recognition for your work, as well as earn a bit of money. Throughout the year there are lots of contests available just for practice and showing off (think contests over at All Poetry), but there are also lots of regular contests for earning some prize awards, too.

First Look at Fall Shows

There's not much more time to wait when it comes to fall programming, and that includes all of the popular adult animation returning to the air. In addition to the veterans Family Guy and The Simpsons, several other shows have joined the popular genre and there are now previews to them all available for excited viewers eagerly anticipating the new season.

Support Abortion Rights

Now that we know abortion rights are all but dead in Texas and every red state--including mine--is likely to soon follow suit, we need to work harder than ever to protect our bodily autonomy from the fascist white supremacists working so hard to keep us silent and powerless. We're not powerless and we certainly aren't going to be quiet! Right now, there are people...

Self-Care Awareness Month

Self-care often gets a bad rep because people assume it means taking bubble baths and massages, which can definitely be a part of someone's self-care routine if they are beneficial to them. For someone like me, the massage might be more stressful, while the soak could be great for my blood pressure. Everyone is different! But the point people often miss is that self-care can be things we hate, too--making a dental appointment, avoiding yummy foods that trigger non-yummy symptoms or cleaning our environment for a bit of peace.
