Nuclear Reactors 795 - MIT Scientist Researching Molten Salts For Use In Nuclear Power Reactors - Part 1 of 2 Parts

Part 1 of 2 Parts
Molten salt reactors have been a subject of research since the Nuclear Age began more than seventy years ago. There have been a number of research reactors built that utilize molten salts for coolant and heat transfer but, as yet, there are no commercial power reactors that use molten salts. There is a growing interest in changing that.

Nuclear Reactors 794 - Autonomous Drones Being Tested To Inspect Nuclear Power Plants

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) “provides thought leadership, industry expertise, and collaborative value to help the electricity sector identify issues, technology gaps, and broader needs that can be addressed through effective research and development programs for the benefit of society.” RADeCO and Exyn Technologies which is a developer of aerial robot systems are

Nuclear Reactors 793 - A Joint Venture Is Developing A Micro Modular Reactor At Chalk River Laboratory in Canada

There is a great deal of interest in the global nuclear industry in what are called small modular reactors (SMRs). These are nuclear reactors that will be built in modules in a factory and assembled on site. They are supposed to be safer and cheaper than full sized nuclear power reactors. By definition, these SMR generate three hundred megawatts or less.

New Frog Discovered in Madagascar

A new species of diamond frog, the Rhombophyrne Ellae, has been discovered in Madagascar. Upon seeing the creature's orange markings, Dr. Mark D. Scherz knew immediately that it was a new species. The frog has excellent camouflage capabilities and beautiful yellow eyes.

Dr. Scherz says to find a new species like it in the area points to gaps in our knowledge of area fauna, prompting more research to be completed to find even more new species.
