December Drink Ideas From Around the World

What keeps your spirits bright?

Most of us have sampled things like spiced eggnog or cranberry cocktails during the winter season, but there are so many other fun winter drinks to be had--some of them from all around the world! Check out these special drinks from Mexico, India and Puerto Rico, for example. None of them are super complicated, but they all offer complex flavors and a nice change of flavor in time for the holidays. Two of them are also warming drinks.

Then there are these holiday-inspired drinks from Pensacola, and WOW do their winter mimosas look tasty! Blackberry kiwi and strawberry vanilla? Yes, please. I also love the idea of prickly pear with lemon and vodka. Yum!

What other fun drinks have you found around the world that you like to enjoy this time of year? Do you have any special drinks that you've invented or that your family has passed down to you? Share them in the chat.

Good Drinking Apps with Great Rewards

Who has the best?

Today I received an email from one of my favorite beermakers in St. Louis, Schafly (yes, there's a familial relation to Phyllis Schlafly, but no, the brand does NOT hold the late conservative's values), sharing the benefits of the brand's app. While I'm not a fan of downloading apps for every business, some of them do offer significant deals when you do, and Schlafly is one of them

It looks like you don't only get a free beer for signing up, but you also get every fourth beer free when you use the app, too. It looks like they don't expire, you can get cashback rewards and you get a $20 gift card after your 5th lunch or dinner at their brewpubs, which are some of my favorite eateries in the city. Bacon jam on toast, poutine and the best beer cheese soup I've ever had? Yes, please.

Which beermakers do you think have the best apps to use? Which ones have offered you the best benefits overall? Share them in the chat.

December Drink Specials

Share what you find!

Drink of the Month specials are totally my downfall. If I know someone is having a special, like the Grinch Shake at one of my favorite spots, or the Eggnog Latte or Chocolate Covered Orange Mocha at my favorite little coffee house, I will actively make a special trip to try them all. I'm THAT into specials! So naturally I'm on the lookout for some great specials, and I'd love to hear what you've found so far.

Alta Bakery and Cafe, for example, has a peppermint latte for the month, as I'm sure many other locations also feature this month. For me, peppermint has to have some mocha to help tone it down a bit!

Applebee's has a Tipsy Reindeer and Strawberry Merry Swirl, and given that it's Eggnog Month, be sure to ask any restaurant about eggnog specials. December 3 is also peppermint latte day, so see if your local coffee shop has something going on.

Where have you found some great specials for the month? Do you know of any chains across the country who have some December offerings? Share them in the chat.

Curious No. 6 is Available

Do you like pineapple...

...because I LOVE pineapple and cannot wait to try Curious No. 6! Curious is the company that makes feel-good cocktails out of incredibly tasty ingredients but without the booze. That's a pretty incredible feat to pull off, yet here they are with their sixth yummy offering and it's sure to run out just as quickly as the previous blends.

Curious No. 6 is made with pineapple, coconut, citrus, oat milk, chicory root, lemon balm and nutmeg. Doesn't that sound amazing? According to the company, the blend is intended to not only assist you in unwinding but to also provide a bit of a beauty boost. Each can provides two cocktails so you could enjoy them or share them with someone at the end of a long day. They come in packs of 4 or 12.

Have you ever tried Curious? If not, is there another booze-free cocktail company that you like? Share your favorites in the chat.

Spiced Cranberry Beverages

We can make them guilt-free this year!

In the past, I've always loved cranberry-flavored beverages, particularly the annual cranberry lemon-lime soda. Unfortunately, I'm also trying to limit my sugar intake, which means that I can't often have most cranberry drinks for the holidays. I will have a little treat here or there but ultimately it's not something I'm going to "waste" my sugar allotment on if it's a beverage.

That's why I was super excited to see that Skinny Mixes has some new holiday flavors this year, including a spiced cranberry syrup! It's called Mistletoe Spiced Cranberry Margarita and it looks oh so mixable, whether you want something hard or not. I can't wait to try it and see if it satisfies my craving this year. I've tried their mixes before and you can definitely just mix them with water if you prefer, too.

What kinds of cranberry drink recipes do you like that might mix well with this sugar-free version? Share them in the chat!

The Best PSL

How do you like yours?

Just because we're well into November it doesn't mean that PSL season is over! In fact, Pumpkin Spice Latte is here all fall and winter, so if you love the flavor combination, as a drink or otherwise, keep enjoying it! Did you know that some witches even consider PSL to be a powerful drink? Why not take advantage of some of those blessings?

And if you need your PSL delivered in a non-traditional format, there are hundreds of recipes online to help you out. For example, if you like it low-calorie, this version might be what you're after, and if you want a boozy one, here is a great recipe that only takes a few minutes. A sugar-free version is also possible and you can always add in veggies, fruits or your favorite protein powder to make it more nutrient-dense.

How do you like your PSL? What fun recipes have you tried? What's the oddest Pumpkin Spice Latte you've ever had? Share them in the chat.

November Cocktails

What will you be making?

As a cranberry cocktail lover who tries to avoid extra sugar, November cocktails get complicated for me. Once in a while you find a diet flavor but it's usually pretty terrible. I saw that Skinny Syrups is selling cranberry flavored syrup without sugar this year so I may try that out and see how it works, especially in my favorite, cranberry lemon-lime soda.

But then I discovered that there are lots of other alternatives, too, so I'd love your help in choosing one to try! These Skinnies look really good and have no calories, and this recipe for a sugar-free cranberry mojito definitely has me intrigued. These cocktails also look simple enough to make.

What do you think? Do you have other great low-sugar or sugar-free cranberry cocktail recipes? Share them in the chat!

Scary Movie Spirits

These drinks are all horror-movie inspired!

It's time to make all of those ghoulish Halloween drinks, and lots of people are using their favorite scary movies as inspiration for their recipes. Some of these beverages look odd or even unappealing, but when you think about it, not only do they fit the theme but they really make sense for your tastebuds, too.

Take this "Betelgeuse" cocktail made by VASO. It features flavors of cherry, lemon and pomegranate... along with allspice and nutmeg. Weird, right? But with all of the ingredients combined together it really makes sense and sounds like a fun fall drink. Drinks like Mother's Martini (as in Norman Bates' mother) and Redrum Punch are in the same vein.

What fun Halloween drinks have you made based on your favorite creepy movies? Have you created any drinking games to go with them? Share your ideas and recipes in the chat.

The Best Hot Chocolate

Share your favorite brands and recipes!

It's so wild that hot chocolate season is almost upon us. It's pretty cold at night where I am, so I'd say it's already here! When it comes to keeping the pantry stocked for cold nights, I usually get a powdered mix for my family (with marshmallows!) but I like mine without much sugar, so I use the actual cocoa powder and add in what I like, which sometimes includes a little salt or cayenne powder.

That said, sometimes I'll try the mixes my family uses. One year my partner bought a bunch of samples to try and that was really fun. I highly recommend doing that as part of a holiday countdown. This year, I have Bones Coffee's drinking chocolate on my list to try. It does come with marshmallows and I've loved almost every one of their coffees I've tried, so it's likely to be awesome.

What kinds of drinking chocolate, cocoa or hot chocolate do you like best? What type do you prefer, and how do you enjoy drinking it? Share all of your cocoa knowledge and treats to pair it with in the chat.

Easy Potion Floats

Share your recipe in the chat!

Potion floats are all the rage this Halloween season, and Your Best Halloween has some tips on making it really look like a potion. But what do you actually add to your potion? They suggest soda and ice cream. My favorite combination is fruit punch, sorbet and lemon-lime soda--green for Halloween and red for Christmas! But there are so many variations that you could find or create the perfect version for your own wants and needs.

This idea with grape soda is my new favorite. I can't wait to try it on Halloween! I've also seen a few drinks garnished with Halloween peeps, which is also really cute. This layered one isn't so much a potion but it is super pretty.

What is your favorite recipe for a Halloween potion float? Share it in the chat.
